Negro leagues

This is a collection of individual files of Negro League players, executives and others associated with the Negro Leagues. Also included is correspondence, articles, newspaper clippings, programs, and statistics.

A collection of contracts, assignment and transfer agreements between individual players, umpires, and scouts and baseball clubs or leagues, dated between 1870 and 1988.

These oral histories were conducted by Rick Van Blair as research for his book "Dugout to Foxhole: Interviews With Baseball Players Whose Careers Were Affected by World War II" published in 1994. The original audio cassette tapes of those interviews make up this entire collection.
