Scouting Reports collection
Scope and Contents
This collection is divided into three series. There are over 7000 individual reports, 1230 individual reports in four bound volumes, Fall and Winter League team reports, and team reports. Series I are individual player reports, alphabetical by surname; three volumes of 1992 prospects from the Montreal Expos and one volume of 1988 prospects from the California Angels. Series II are off-season leagues, Puerto Rico Winter League, Dominican Republic Winter League and the Arizona Fall League. Series III are amateur and professional team reports, which include high school, college, American League, National League and Minor Leagues. There are a handful of Cuban team and individual reports from the early 1990s. This unique collection includes players whose baseball career ended in high school to those who went on to become Hall of Famers. Items of interest include Phil Niekro’s circa 1959 report when he played in the United Minor Workers League; Hank Aaron and Ernie Banks’ reports with the Negro League; Kerry Collins’ report, prior to becoming a quarterback in the National Football League; a team report from the 1973 Pacific Lions from Japan, affiliated with the California League.

Biographical / Historical
The National Baseball Hall of Fame, with the help of the Scout of the Year Foundation, has acquired this large collection of scouting reports. These reports were created by a large number of scouts over the years, from Hugh Alexander to George Zuraw. An online exhibit was created titled "Diamond Mines".

Abstract
A collection of individual player and team scouting reports. These amateur and professional reports include high school, college, Minor Leagues and Major Leagues dated between 1943 and 2012.
Arrangement
This collection is arranged into three series. Series I Individual Player Reports, Series II Off-Season Leagues, Series III Amateur and Professional Team Reports. Series I is arranged in alphabetical order by surname.
