Scope and Contents
A collection of research material relating to an article written by the donor on baseball in the 1936 Olympics. The article is titled "Olympic Baseball 1936: Was es Das?", in The National Pastime, Vol. 4 No. 2, Winter 1985. The collection includes correspondence, article drafts, 1936 team roster, interview transcripts, and recorded media (standard audiocassettes). The author received correspondence from various organizations, such as The United States Olympic Committee, Texas Rangers, U.S.A. Baseball, Paul Amen, Buckingham Palace, the Society of American Baseball Research, and more. Collection also includes transcripts of interviews with former players from the team, with accompanying audio cassettes.

Biographical / Historical
The 1936 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XI Olympiad and commonly known as Berlin 1936, was an international multi-sport event held from 1 to 16 August 1936 in Berlin, Germany. Berlin won the bid to host the Games over Barcelona at the 29th IOC Session on 26 April 1931. Baseball was again a demonstration sport at the 1936 Summer Olympics after a 24-year absence. Both of the teams that played in Berlin were from the United States. The exhibition game was played on 12 August 1936 in front of 90,000 spectators in Berlin's Olympic Stadium. The two teams were named the "World Champions" and the "U. S. Olympics". The World Champions won, 6–5. Leslie Mann, who had pushed strongly for inclusion of baseball as an Olympic sport, was the umpire.
