MLB Assignments, Contracts, Disabled Lists, and WS Distributions
Scope and Contents
The materials in this collection relate to both the American and National League. A collection of assignment agreements dating between 1972 and 1976, and 1996. The disabled lists are dated 1981, 1996, and 1997, and are organized by team. The player contracts are organized in alphabetical order and are dated 1991 to 1997. The World Series Distributions is a set of 19 volumes, dating from 1962 to 1990. The assignment agreements and the disabled lists are available on microfilm.

Conditions Governing Access
Due to Social Security Numbers, a 50-year limited access has been imposed from the last date of creation. A two-week notice must be given so materials can be pulled, copied, and redacted prior to use. The World Series Distributions have a 50-year access restriction from date of creation, imposed by the donor. Please contact the Giamatti Research Center, research@baseballhall.org, 607-547-0330.

Biographical / Historical
The Office of the Commissioner was created in 1921 as a consequence of the Black Sox scandal of 1919. The commissioner was to be an independent person overseeing the leagues. The Office of the Commissioner reviews the agreements, contracts, and World Series Distributions and has the right to approve or disapprove.
